Privacy Policy

Last updated 13 June 2026

Your financial data is some of the most sensitive information you have, and we treat it that way. This Privacy Policy explains what PlainFinance, operated by BrainFeed Solutions ("BrainFeed Solutions", "we", "us"), collects, why, how we protect it, and the control you have over it. We have never sold personal financial data, and we never will.

1. What we collect

Account information. Your email address, a hashed password, and basic profile and settings you choose. If you upgrade to a paid plan, our payment processor handles your card details — we don't store full card numbers ourselves.

Financial data you bring. The transactions, balances, account names, budgets, categories, and goals you import or create. You decide what to bring in, typically by uploading CSV or PDF statements. PlainFinance does not connect directly to your bank.

Usage and device data. Limited technical information needed to run the Service and keep it secure — such as log data, device and browser type, and how features are used. We keep this to what we genuinely need.

2. How we use your data

We use your data to:

  • provide the Service — import, categorise, and display your finances, run budgets and insights;
  • maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and debug problems;
  • process payments and manage your subscription;
  • send essential service messages, and (only if you opt in) product or digest emails; and
  • meet legal and accounting obligations.

We do not use your transactions to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

3. Encryption and security

Sensitive financial fields are encrypted, and data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. We apply access controls, keep audit logs, and follow least-privilege practices so that only the systems and people who need access to operate the Service have it. No system is perfectly secure, but protecting your data is a core part of how PlainFinance is built.

4. When we share data

We share data only with service providers who help us run PlainFinance, and only as needed:

  • Hosting and database — to store and serve your data.
  • Payment processing — to take payments and manage subscriptions.
  • Email delivery — to send account and (opt-in) product emails.

These providers are bound to protect your data and use it only to provide their service to us. We may also disclose data if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public. If PlainFinance is ever involved in a merger or acquisition, we'll notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete data or your account, we remove the associated personal data from our active systems, except for limited information we're required to retain (for example, records needed for tax, accounting, or legal compliance). Backups are rotated on a regular schedule.

6. Your rights and choices

You can:

  • Access and export your data at any time from within the app;
  • Correct account and profile information;
  • Delete your account, which removes your personal data as described above;
  • Opt out of non-essential emails using the unsubscribe link or your settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law (such as the right to object to or restrict certain processing). To exercise any of these, email support@plainfinance.app and we'll help.

7. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the Service securely. We don't use third-party advertising cookies.

8. Children

PlainFinance isn't intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

9. International processing

We may process and store data on servers located outside your country. Where we do, we take steps to ensure your data continues to be protected consistent with this policy and applicable law.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you (for example, by email or an in-app notice) before they take effect. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
