Terms of Service

Last updated 13 June 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and BrainFeed Solutions ("BrainFeed Solutions", "we", "us"), the company that operates PlainFinance, covering your use of the PlainFinance website, apps, and services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. The Service

PlainFinance is a personal finance tool. You import your transactions (for example, by uploading CSV or PDF statements), and we help you categorise them, set budgets, and understand where your money goes. We are not a bank, broker, lender, or financial adviser, and nothing in the Service is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. You are responsible for your own financial decisions.

2. Your account

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use PlainFinance. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your login credentials secure. You're responsible for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@plainfinance.app if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

3. Plans, billing, and renewals

PlainFinance offers a free plan and paid plans (currently Plus, billed yearly, and Lifetime, a one-time purchase). Prices are shown on our pricing section and may change for future billing periods — we'll give you notice before a change affects you.

  • Plus renews automatically each year at the then-current price unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel anytime from your account settings; cancellation stops future renewals and you keep Plus access until the end of the paid period.
  • Lifetime is a single payment for continued access to the plan's features for the lifetime of the Service.
  • Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

Taxes may apply depending on where you live and are your responsibility unless we state otherwise at checkout.

4. Your data is yours

You own the financial data you bring to PlainFinance. We claim no ownership of it. We will never sell your personal financial data or your transactions. You can export your data at any time, and you can delete your account, which removes your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.

You grant us a limited licence to store and process your data solely to operate and improve the Service for you — for example, to run auto-categorisation and show you your budgets. That licence ends when you delete the data or your account, subject to limited retention we're legally required to keep.

5. Acceptable use

When using PlainFinance, you agree not to:

  • break the law, or use the Service to launder money or commit fraud;
  • upload data you don't have the right to use, or anyone else's financial data without authority;
  • attempt to access other users' accounts or data;
  • probe, scrape, overload, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the Service or its security;
  • resell, sublicense, or build a competing product from the Service; or
  • misuse the Service in any way that could harm PlainFinance or other users.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.

6. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties (for example, hosting, payment processing, and email delivery). Your use of those features may also be subject to the third parties' terms. We're not responsible for third-party services we don't control.

7. Availability and changes

We work hard to keep PlainFinance available and accurate, but the Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may carry out maintenance that temporarily interrupts the Service. We aren't responsible for the accuracy of data you import or of automatic categorisation — always check important figures yourself.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PlainFinance will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or revenue, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or INR 1,000.

9. Termination

You can stop using PlainFinance and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if we're required to by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you (for example, by email or an in-app notice) before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts located in Ahmedabad, India will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, subject to any non-waivable rights you have under local law.
